STATEMENT BY THE GINGER STAGE AND ART AGENTS- A NEW OPEN-MINDED ART AGENCY BASED IN BUDAPEST- IT IS A MEETING POINT BETWEEN ARTISTS AND VENUES.
We are a tiny but highly creative agency which specializes in contemporary art. We dedicate ourselves to nourishing interaction between Hungarian and international artists, art platforms and networks.
Through our consultancy service we provide assistance with strategic development and promotion to our clients, seeking and opening new opportunities, sales and distribution channels.
Our multilingual team has legal and financial mastery to cover logistics and legal background of our services. We offer up-to-date information, market research and analysis, and representation of interests.
The Launch Lounge of Ginger Agents is an opportunity for 8 young artists to showcase their work. The exhibition is curated by Paksi Endre Lehel and financed by Ginger Agents. The artists' work was selected by the former through studio visits. Chinese Characters provides the exhibition space and access to its database. Our idea is to give an opportunity to a group of young people who want to enter into commercial art representation, to bring together prospective clients and artists, and to provide a fun and informative evening. It is of interest to Chinese to broaden our profile and create a dialogue with prospective buyers and collectors. While Chinese remains a contemporary space concerned with showing new and innovative work, we also recognize the need for artists to sell work and develop a commercial profile. Our goal is to see artists push the boundaries of their potential. This is often difficult to balance with commercial endevour which is why we are happy to help an agency which aims to deal with these opposing themes. Chinese is an independent contemporary art space.
It is not less than a striking demonstration of their ability to totally re-form a physical space through an installation of art works arising from spirit by excavating the characteristics of the space or even by overwriting them.
Thus, the material - which cannot communicate by itself - transforms into a medium that can reach the recipient, the human.

I have included the previous statement in order to hightlight one of the problems with putting together an art show. Real commentary, whether good or bad is preferable to obscuring art. The show did not need to be blown up out of proportion, nor an uncertain ideology made even more unclear. concrete criticism is necessary to bolster the meaning of, and open up work, to the public and potential purchasers. While humour and fun has its place it can be confusing and offputting for viewers, and can belittle the hard work and ideas that artists put into their work.
