Chinese YEAR of the PIG FESTIVAL


Ladies and Gentlemen,
Chinese Characters CAS announces an OPEN COMPETITION to celebrate the chinese new year. The subject is: Chinese Year of the Pig

Artists will submit their interpretations of this subject. Prizes will be awarded at the exhibition opening on February 16, 2007 from 19:00. The best work earns the artist a CASH prize and a solo show at the CHINESE CHARACTERS Contemporary Art Space (CAS).

Artists may submit ONE work in their chosen medium (Painting, sculpture, animation, performance... etc.)

WHAT YOU CAN WIN


Prizes will be awarded to the best works at the exhibition opening on Feb 16th.
The prizes will be:
Fődij /Grand Prize:

40.000HUF
in cash
and a solo exhibition in CAS!
2nd prize :
10.000HUF of art supplies
3rd prize:
To be announced.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO


1. Works must be no larger than 100 cm x 100 cm x 100 cm.
2. Transport to and from the gallery is the responsibility of the artist.
3. Before Feb 14th, works must arrive at the gallery during gallery hours (tuesday and friday 15:00-20:00. Alternatively, on Feb 14th, between 12:00 - 20:00.
4. Works must be delivered complete and ready to be hung or installed.
5. Works will by hung or placed by CAS staff at their discretion.
6. Works will be numbered, labelled and displayed anonymously at the time of hanging.
7. Your name must not appear on any visible part of the work.
8. In the event of oversubscription, works may be placed on rotation throughout the show.
9. Any damage to works incurred during the show is not the responsibility of the CAS, CAS staff or CAS owners.
10. Works must be collected during gallery hours no later than Friday March 2nd. Uncollected works will become property of the gallery from March 3rd.

UNUSUALLY FAIR AND TRANSPARENT


The works will be evaluated by an independent judge, chosen by the gallery director, at the opening on Friday February 16th.
Judging will take place accordingly. The judge will not be privy to names of entrants.
